Key Features

Highlight these in your coverage.

200+ Pre-Built Channels

Movies, TV shows, and mixed-genre channels organized by genre, era, mood, and content rating — all generated from the user's own library.

50+ Music Stations

Genre-based radio stations that pull directly from the user's Plex music library. Jazz, rock, electronic, classical, ambient, and more.

Broadcast-Style Program Guide

A full electronic program guide (EPG) showing what's on now, what's next, and what's playing across every channel. Generates in seconds.

Sign In with Plex

One-tap authentication discovers servers automatically. Works locally and over the internet for family and friends with shared access.

Smart Metadata Filters

Every channel uses complex metadata filters — genre, content rating, decade, studio, audience score — to keep lineups accurate and on-brand.

No Setup Required

No Docker containers, no server-side configuration, no IPTV playlists. Install on Apple TV, sign in, and start watching in under two minutes.

The Story

Background for feature stories and profiles.

Bunny Ears TV was born from a simple observation: streaming killed the joy of channel surfing. The on-demand model is incredible, but it replaced the serendipity of stumbling onto something unexpected at 2am with the paralysis of scrolling through thousands of titles and choosing nothing. Bunny Ears TV brings that feeling back — powered entirely by your own Plex media library.

Built as a solo indie project by a senior software engineering leader with over 15 years of experience and a deep background in UI/UX design, Bunny Ears TV is a native tvOS app written entirely in SwiftUI. There are no ads, no tracking, no data collection beyond what Plex itself provides. The app never touches your media files — everything stays on your server, on your network.

The project fills a gap that nothing else addresses. Tools like ErsatzTV and dizqueTV require Docker containers and server-side configuration. IPTV apps require manual playlist management. Bunny Ears TV requires nothing — install it on Apple TV, sign in with your Plex account, and 200+ channels are ready in under two minutes. It's the first native tvOS app that turns a personal Plex library into a complete broadcast television experience.
