Privacy Policy

Bunny Ears TV turns media from a Plex Media Server into a channel-surfing app for Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad. It does not operate a media server, host your original media files, or create a separate Bunny Ears TV account.

1. Data the app handles

Plex connection and library metadata

You connect Bunny Ears TV through Plex's link or QR flow. The app receives the Plex authorization needed to find servers and access the server, libraries, and profiles your Plex account can use. It stores the selected server and library configuration so it can reconnect.

To build channels, the guide, search, and playback screens, the app requests Plex metadata such as media identifiers, titles, artwork references, library type, genres, dates, ratings, collections, people, playback state, and technical media details. The app may cache that metadata and generated schedules on your device.

Your original video, audio, and image files remain on your Plex server. Playback is streamed from your Plex server or a Plex-provided playback route. Bunny Ears TV does not upload or host those files, and its channel classifier does not send your catalog to Bunny Ears TV for analysis.

Local app data

The app stores data needed to work, including settings, favorites, guide data, profile choices, custom-channel configuration, playback state, and caches. Some choices intentionally remain device-local, including the active profile, network quality, display and audio settings, background-audio policy, and Weather location.

Optional iCloud sync

If you enable supported iCloud features, guide data can use CloudKit and household settings can use iCloud key-value storage. Synced information can include favorites, packages, custom channels, bumper settings, guide preferences, server configuration, and Plex login information when that sync option is enabled. Apple processes this data through the iCloud account signed in on your device. You can turn supported sync options off in the app.

Weather location

Weather on channel 20 asks for location permission only when the feature needs it. With permission, the app sends the coordinates needed to request a forecast from Apple Weather. The selected Weather location and its cache stay device-local and are not used for advertising. You can change location access in Apple device settings. See Apple's WeatherKit information.

Purchases

Purchases use Apple StoreKit. Apple handles the Apple Account, card or other payment method, billing, and transaction processing. Bunny Ears TV receives product and transaction information needed to show offers, determine entitlement, and restore purchases. It does not receive your full card number or shipping information. Apple's handling is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.

Diagnostics

Privacy-scrubbed Sentry diagnostics may report app failures and related technical context so problems can be investigated. Diagnostic filtering excludes credentials, server endpoints, media titles, persistent identifiers, and account identity. Sentry's own processing is covered by its privacy notice.

2. Data the website handles

Site measurement

The website loads Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights. Web Analytics provides aggregated page-view information such as the page, referrer, general browser or device category, and approximate region. Vercel describes Web Analytics as anonymous and cookie-free. Speed Insights collects page-performance measurements and the technical context needed to interpret them. Bunny Ears TV does not use these tools for personalized ads. Details are available in Vercel's Web Analytics privacy documentation and privacy notice.

Contact and catalog corrections

The contact form sends your name, email address, subject, and message through Formspree. The catalog-correction form sends the title and correction details you provide, plus an email address if you choose to include one. Formspree also receives ordinary request information needed to deliver a submission. See the Formspree Privacy Policy.

Beta email list

If you join the beta email list, the website sends the email address you provide to Mailchimp. That address is used for the requested beta or product email and remains subject to unsubscribe controls in those messages. See the Mailchimp privacy statement.

3. How information is used

• Provide Plex connection, guide, channel, playback, profile, sync, Weather, and purchase features you choose to use.
• Respond to support requests and review catalog corrections.
• Send beta or product email only when you subscribe to that list.
• Measure site reliability and performance, diagnose app failures, prevent misuse, and protect the service.
• Comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce the Terms of Service.

Depending on the law where you live, this processing may be based on providing a service you requested, consent, legitimate operational interests, or a legal obligation.

4. Service providers and disclosures

Bunny Ears TV does not sell or rent personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Data is disclosed only as needed for the feature you request, ordinary service operation, security, or a valid legal requirement.

• Plex for authorization, server discovery, metadata, profiles, and playback.
• Apple for App Store distribution, StoreKit purchases, optional iCloud sync, device location permission, and Apple Weather.
• Sentry for privacy-scrubbed app diagnostics.
• Vercel for website analytics and performance measurement.
• Formspree for contact and correction submissions.
• Mailchimp for the optional email list.

5. Retention

Local app data remains until it is replaced, cleared through available app controls, removed by the operating system, or deleted with the app. Signing out clears supported local Plex account data. Synced information can remain in iCloud according to your app settings, iCloud account, and Apple's retention practices.

Support and correction submissions are kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain relevant records, protect the service, or meet legal obligations. Mailing-list information remains until you unsubscribe or request removal, subject to records Mailchimp must retain. Analytics and diagnostic data follow the retention controls and policies of the providers named above. There is no single retention period for every category.

6. Your choices and rights

• Decline or revoke Weather location permission in Apple device settings.
• Turn supported iCloud and Plex-login sync options off in Bunny Ears TV.
• Sign out, clear supported local data, or delete the app.
• Unsubscribe from beta or product email using the link in a message.
• Use the contact form or email support to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of information Bunny Ears TV controls.

Depending on your location, privacy law may provide additional rights, including restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, or appeal. Bunny Ears TV may need to verify a request and may retain information when the law permits or requires it. Data controlled by Apple, Plex, or another provider may need to be requested from that provider directly.

7. Security

Bunny Ears TV uses safeguards suited to the data and service, including local processing for channel classification and diagnostic scrubbing before reports are sent. No device, transmission, or storage system is completely secure. Protect your Apple Account, Plex account, Plex server, network, and device access.

8. Children

The app can be used in a family household, including with Plex managed profiles, but the website forms, mailing list, and purchases are not directed to children under 13. Bunny Ears TV does not knowingly ask a child under 13 to submit personal information. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact support so it can be reviewed and deleted when required.

9. International processing

The providers named in this policy may process information in the United States and other countries. Privacy rules in those places may differ from the rules where you live. Each provider's linked policy explains its processing and transfer practices. Mandatory privacy rights in your home jurisdiction still apply.

10. Changes and contact

This policy may change when the app, website, providers, or legal requirements change. The date at the top will be updated when a revised policy is published.
