A guide for the person watching

Give everyone a lineup that fits.

A shared program guide should not look the same for every person in the house. Bunny Ears TV recognizes Plex Home profiles, supports four-digit PINs, and derives an age-appropriate view from the shared guide.

Signal 01

The household keeps one schedule, each profile sees a permitted view

Bunny Ears TV does not silently rebuild the whole household schedule every time someone changes profiles. It keeps a shared base guide, then filters channels and programs for the active profile on that device.

An adult can choose Off, Little Kids, Older Kids, or Teens. International ratings are mapped to the closest supported level. Unrated video and music channels have separate adult controls because music tracks do not carry the same content ratings as movies and shows.

  • Channels stay visible when enough permitted programs remain.
  • Channels disappear when the active profile no longer has enough eligible items.
  • The active profile remains local to the device.

Signal 02

PINs protect profiles, clear labels protect settings

Protected Plex Home profiles accept a secure four-digit PIN. After a successful online verification, the app can use a salted offline fallback when the network is temporarily unavailable.

Managed profiles still have access to safe playback, quality, guide, Weather, interface-sound, and permitted profile-switching controls. Household areas display Managed by Adult instead of failing silently.

Good to know

Age filtering depends on the ratings available in Plex. Adults should review Plex metadata and the resulting guide before relying on it for younger viewers.
